“Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear.”—Isaiah 65:24.
Back in 1924, during the Great War, a young Spaniard soldier sat in his tent writing a letter to ask his captain to give him Saturday off so that he could observe the Sabbath according to his faith. He was a Seventh-day Adventist. He had been praying to God for his captain to grant him the opportunity. But it was hard.
This day, as he was just about to finish his letter, he heard his name being called to go out for an inspection. At that moment a wind began to blow and blew his letter away from him.
After a fruitless search for the letter, he simply decided to go ahead and attend the inspection and continue the search for the letter later.
To his surprise, he was returning to his tent after the inspection when his captain upon seeing him, called him to his office.
‘I have read your letter which you dropped at the door of my tent’ he said; ‘and because of your case I have decided to allow you to have your Saturdays off’.
The young soldier was stunned! He couldn’t believe what fell on his faithful ears.
But there it was! God had delivered the letter for him!
“I will answer” them, God says. Even before they finish praying to me, “while they are still speaking I will hear.” That is His promise to those who will dare trust into His hands all their cares burdens.
What do you think will hold Him today from hearing your prayers and mine? What fears and worries have you today, too heavy for Him to shoulder? Dare tell Him and you may also as well be surprised today! Gather the courage to say, ‘I believe, You can, Lord!’
As for me this is my prayer: Dear LORD, thank you for your faithfulness and your promises to us. Hear my prayer this morning and be my postman according to your abundant mercy wisdom.Shelter me in your arms until the storm is over. Yours truly!
